Timed capture
Start a countdown, then open a menu or hover a tooltip — the dimmed overlay turns click-through and fires with that vanishing UI still on screen.
Record a region to video
Press ⌥⇧⌘5 to record any region to a portable H.264 MP4. A floating bar lets you pause and resume with no frozen gap, then preview, trim the ends, and save or copy the clip.
Familiar shortcuts
Capture with the keys you already know — ⇧⌘3, ⇧⌘4, and ⇧⌘5 for full screen, region, and window — plus ⇧⌘E to reopen the editor without capturing.

Hokaku has no server, no account system, and no analytics SDK. It captures, annotates, and exports entirely on your machine. Copying to the clipboard or saving a PNG is the only time your image goes anywhere — and that's you, pasting it exactly where you meant to.
Hokaku is distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store and runs under Apple's App Sandbox. Screen Recording access is granted through System Settings, not a sandbox entitlement, so sandboxing has no effect on how capture works.
